Good afternoon families of Dr. E. W. Coffin School,
This week was full of activities including glass fusion art sessions, gymnastics, and concluded with an amazing Fresh Air Friday. Our grades 1 and 2 students used their tallying skills as field scientists to find crocus flowers in our Whispering woods, nature grounds, and school fields. The other classes were outside as well, and some students walked over 5 KM. Ms. Jones’ and Mrs. Armour’s classes travelled the furthest as they engaged in some nature observations involving nearby wetlands. These students should be tired this evening.

PATs (Grade 6's only)
Alberta Education has announced that Grade 6 English language arts and literature (ELAL) and mathematics provincial achievement tests will not be administered in the 2023/2024 school year. Alberta Education will instead offer field testing between April and June 2024. We will explore these optional field tests for Grade 6 English language arts and literature and mathematics and provide more information to parents when it becomes available. It is important to note that Social Studies 6 (June 18, 2024) and Science 6 (June 19, 2024) PATs will still be administered for all Grade 6 CBE students in June 2024.
Wishing you all a happy Mother’s Day weekend.
Sincerely,
Chris Hooper
