Good afternoon families of Dr. E. W. Coffin School,
Today, we started our Fresh Air Friday with Family Groups (FG). The groups engaged in preparation activities for Sports Day next week. Grade 5 and 6 leaders had their groups prepare team flags and name tags along with team cheers. It looks like Mrs. Saunder’s FG has the best team song for the Yellow Bananas...it is quite long. We also celebrated the work by Sebby, Ollie, Rane, Sihan, and Erik. These students presented an amazing invention for the Science Olympics, where they created a racoon-proof garbage can. We also have some exciting news from Mrs. Stilborn’s class. Like Ms. Jones’ class a few years ago, Mrs. Stilborn’s class used Minecraft design in the Level Up Calgary competition and were recently designated as finalists! The design involved the city’s proposed Green Line project. This week we were notified that The City of Calgary Judging Panel awarded our project as a part of the Season 3 winners. Congratulations on winning this CBE wide competition! There is lots to celebrate with our students.

Pride Month
The Calgary Board of Education strives to ensure that all our schools are safe and caring places for all students and staff. As a public school system, we welcome and celebrate students from diverse backgrounds, perspectives and beliefs.
At Dr E. W. Coffin School, we have honoured and recognized our unique school community throughout the school year with events such as [Languages spoken board, Orange Shirt Day, Pink Shirt Day, etc]. June is Pride Month Internationally, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. The CBE reaffirms its commitment to creating safe and caring learning and work environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff. At Dr E. W.
