From the Principal
I have enjoyed my first three weeks at this school immensely! Everyone has been so welcoming to me. We also have a number of new students at Dr. Coffin and they are settling into their new surroundings, making connections, and getting into routines. Creating a welcoming environment is a priority for me and our staff. You’ll hear us talk about that a lot!
I look forward to getting to know our students and families more as we welcome you to our Meet the Teacher afternoon on Monday from 4:00-5:00 PM. This will be a chance for you to see your students’ classroom, meet their teachers, and to see some other learning spaces that they spend time in. Please remember that this is not a time to discuss individual concerns related to your child’s learning or progress. Please follow up with an email or phone call if you would like to have a discussion of this nature.
Following Meet the Teacher time, our School Council is hosting a Welcome Back BBQ from 5:00-7:00 PM. This will be a great community event, giving us all a chance to connect.

Terry Fox Run
Dr. EW Coffin is proud to be kicking off the year with our annual Terry Fox Run on Thursday Sept. 26 at 9:30 AM. Please help our students fundraise for cancer research and follow in the footsteps of one of our greatest Canadian heroes. Please donate!
If you’re interested in volunteering to help at our Terry Fox Run, and you have current Volunteer Clearance, please email your teacher and let them know you’d like to join us.

Book Fair
Scholastic Book Fair! Students were sent home with a brochure which has a QR code to view what the book fair has to offer. A wish List was included so students can make a shopping list and bring it to the fair. All are welcome to come browse and purchase books on Monday, Sept 23, 3:30-6:00 PM and Tuesday, Sept 24, 3:30-4:30PM. Almost 50% of sales go back into the Dr. Coffin library for new books. (Not all books on the website may be offered at the book fair.)
