From the Principal
At our Coffin Cares Assembly today, we recognized a number of students who have fostered connection here at our school. It has been such a great start to the 25-26 school year, and we thank everyone, particularly our students, for making it special. Later in the assembly, we switched our focus to the quality of resilience. We want to create an environment here at Dr. Coffin where our students can become more resilient. This is done through making them feel safe to take risks and experience challenges. The quote that I shared with the students today sums it up quite well:
Resilience is not about being unbreakable; it’s about being able to put the pieces back together and continue on with renewed hope and courage.
An incredible example of resilience is the story of Terry Fox. His Marathon of Hope continues to inspire Canadians to this day. We will be participating as a school in a Terry Fox Run next Friday September 26 from 9:00-10:30 am. If you have a current police clearance on file at the school and are interested in volunteering to supervise part of our course, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher. Also, please consider helping us reach our fundraising goal through the following link: https://schools.terryfox.ca/98154 We are going cashless this year with Terry Fox donations!
