Building Security/Students Arriving Late

The safety of our students and staff is of upmost importance. We continue to have a number of parents enter our building in the morning and at the end of the day, as well as during other times. As such, we are refining some of our procedures regarding visitors to our school. This is being done to keep our building secure and to comply with CBE Corporate Security regulations.

Please adhere to the following:

  • Only students may enter through their designated doors around the perimeter of the building. All parents, grandparents, and other caregivers must meet their student outside. We will have staff at all entry and exit doors to remind adults of this.
  • Adults who need to enter the building will be asked through the door speaker for the reason for their visit. In some cases, we may ask you to make an appointment. This will be the case for any requests to speak with our staff.
  • Students will be required to enter the building independently, hanging their belongings on their own coat hook. If assistance is required, staff will be available to support if necessary.
  • All adults who enter the building will be required to sign in and out in the binder on the table outside the office.
  • Millenium Kids will enter and exit through their designated gym door. Students and parents do not have access to the building outside of school hours and should not be visiting classrooms or walking through other areas of the school.
  • Students must use only their designated entry and exit doors! Students should proceed to their regular classroom entry door if they arrive within a minute of the 8:40 am bell. They do not need to proceed to the office. If their regular entry door is closed, they should proceed to the office to check in and receive a late slip to give to their teacher.

We thank you in advance for your support in keeping our building safe and secure.

Halloween – Thursday October 31

Halloween is a fun and exciting time that students of all ages look forward to all year.  We are very excited about Halloween at Dr. E.W. Coffin, but we also want to ensure that we continue to support a safe, caring and inclusive environment. Students who decide to wear a costume cannot include weapons in their costume or appropriate other cultures, religions, or races and must be respectful of diversity.

Some other reminders regarding Halloween:

  • Please don’t bring any food (including candy) to share or pass out.
  • Join us for our outdoor parade at 9:00 am. This will take place at the back of the school near the basketball court.
  • Students will participate in a Pumpkin Hunt in Whispering Woods. Thank you to School Council for setting up this activity.
