This Week at Dr. E.W. Coffin
Morning Entry for Students
Just a couple of reminders regarding students entering the building in the morning. There is a warning bell that rings at 8:37 am indicating that students can enter the school. Students should be at their desks, ready to begin learning by the second bell at 8:40 am. The first few minutes of the day are crucial in getting off to a good start and following routines. We thank you for continuing to prioritize getting to school on time. Thank you for your support!
Social-Emotional Learning in Elementary School
At Dr. Coffin, we believe that academic success goes hand in hand with social-emotional learning (SEL). SEL helps students develop essential life skills such as self-awareness, empathy, and problem-solving. Here’s how we support SEL in our classrooms:
- Regular class meetings to foster a sense of community.
- Mindfulness strategies to help students manage emotions.
- Conflict resolution strategies to encourage positive peer interactions.
- Character education lessons focused on kindness, respect, and responsibility.
Parents can support SEL at home by:
- Encouraging children to talk about their feelings.
- Teaching problem-solving skills through real-life situations.
- Practicing gratitude and empathy as a family.
Together, we can help our students grow into confident, kind, and resilient individuals.
Alien In-line
Our students had a blast this week skating in the gym with Alien In-line. Thank you to our School Council for supporting residencies in our school!
