Student Vote

As part of our commitment to civic education, grade 4-6 students at Dr. Coffin participated in Student Vote Canada, a national program that provides students with the opportunity to experience the voting process firsthand. Students cast ballots for the actual candidates running in our local electoral district as part of a parallel election. The goal is to help students explore the issues, understand the voting process, and begin to see themselves as informed and engaged citizens. I encourage you to talk to your child about the experience — ask them what issues matter most to them and who they chose to support and why. It’s a great opportunity to connect as a family and discuss the importance of participating in democracy.

Rocks and Rings

This past week, our students had the opportunity to do some indoor curling with Rocks and Rings! In partnership with Curling Canada, the Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings program is designed to introduce the Olympic sport of curling to elementary school children by bringing curling equipment for interactive physical education games right in the school gym. Rocks & Rings brings the curling rink to the school gym to reach children that would otherwise not have access to the sport.

Thanks as always to our amazing School Council for sponsoring this experience. Fun was had by all!
