An EXCITING Music Message from Mr. O’Reilly
Hello Dr. Coffin Families, I am so excited to share with everyone that our school got not 1, but 2 top 10 nominations this year for our CBC Music Class Challenge submission.
Our school has been participating in the CBC Music Class Challenge for 9 years now and this year was our favourite one yet! We really enjoyed the process of writing our own original song. We first brainstormed ideas for chord progressions, melodic ideas, as well as the lyrics of the song. We worked hard to put everything together, collaborated as a whole class, and then actually learned the song. Every student selects whichever instrument they want to play, and our focus is always learning what it takes to be a good member of the band.
We are also beyond excited to announce that Rm. 1 Achieved 4th place overall in their category and got a special recognition for their amazing song and performance.
AND....
Rm. 4 got 2nd place in their category! This is the best outcome we have ever received, and we will be getting a commemorative plaque to celebrate our victory. Remember, this competition is Canada wide and so getting 2nd place is incredible, even a top 10 nomination is fantastic.
I am so proud of all of our classes, and we will continue the legacy of the CBC Music Classes Challenge in the future. Thank you to all our hardworking students and the support of our teachers, staff, and parents.

Coffin Cares Assembly
Today we had another Coffin Cares Assembly. Our grade ½ team led it based on the Mind – To Know domain of the Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework. We look forward to recognizing students who are nominated at our next assembly on June 5.
Jump Rope for Heart
Today, we had our Jump Rope for Heart Event outside. The students rotated through various skipping stations. It was super fun!
Fun Lunch
We have another Fun Lunch coming up on June 3. Today is the final day for orders through the Healthy Hunger website.
